These are the instrumental music programs offered at Windermere: Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Guitar. Students who engage in music studies will benefit tremendously in several areas of their education, as many studies have proven that the study of music rewards students with increased academic performance.
The Band program at Windermere has a long history and tradition of excellence.
In the Concert Band program, there are three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Senior.
In the Jazz Band program, we have a Junior Jazz band for first-year Jazz players, and we hope to introduce a second-year ensemble in the future.
The Guitar program was introduced in 2017, and has grown to include three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. The guitar is a very popular instrument used to play many different styles of music, and students really enjoy the opportunity to learn to play this versatile instrument.
All instrumental music programs have the opportunity to perform at concerts and performances throughout the year.
Gord Robertson
Conductor
Gord Robertson has been teaching at Windermere since January 2016. He has a Bachelor of Music degree from Capilano University and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of British Columbia. Mr. Robertson has worked hard to enhance the presence of the Band and Guitar programs at Windermere. His dedication towards the performing arts, coupled with his desire to help students succeed, is what allows these programs to flourish.
